Type II casein kinase (CK-2) is unique among the protein kinases since it can use ATP as well as GTP as a phosphoryl donor. It is extremely sensitive to heparin inhibition and can be activated by polyamines and basic polypeptides.

Casein kinase 2 (CK2) is a highly conserved and ubiquitous eukaryotic Ser/Thr protein kinase. Genetic, biochemical, and cell biological studies have indicated the involvement of this enzyme in the control of cell proliferation and in signal transduction. the peptide RRRDDDSDDD turned out to be an even better substrate than the peptide RRREEESEEE.

Casein kinase II peptide (RRRDDDSDDD) dose-dependently (IC50 = 50 μM) inhibited β-hexosaminidase release by IgE-sensitized antigen-stimulated RBL-2H3 cells, whereas casein kinase II peptide analogue (RRRDDDADDD) only partially inhibited β-hexosaminidase release by antigen-stimulated RBL-2H3 cells.
酪蛋白激酶II肽(RRRDDDSDDD)剂量依赖性地(IC50=50μM)抑制IgE致敏的抗原刺激的RBL-2H3细胞释放β-己糖胺酶,而酪蛋白激酶II类似物(RRRDDD)仅部分抑制抗原刺激的RBS-2H3细胞的β-己糖胺酶。
